This instructinal video displays the concept that a knowlegde of the Latin language may be implemented on the oh-so-stressful standardized tests of today. The teacher expresses how even if one does not know the meaning of any given english sentence, Latin may be used to define each each component of the word, then the word itself, and then the sentence itself as a whole. Roots such as regi (king), and cide (cidere = to kill) are elaborated upon for the viewers to gain an understanding of why the words within the sample sentence mean the things they do.
Not only as a Latin enthusiast, but as a student soon about to take the SAT's, the topic presented in this video appears to be very beneficial to it's viewers. It is providing them with a way to really comprehend the meaning of words, not just learn them off Robotically and ineffectually. This method would certainly ensure a greater understanding of the writing section of the SAT/ACT's, as stated by the instructor, thus increasing students' scores on one of these most important college placement tests in America.
